Colour Error in Fusion Version 16
Posted by Martin in Fusion Version 16 on May 27, 2010
Error/Question: We have noticed that the colours in V16 are coming out in the incorrect categories. For example I tried to change the colour of the glass on a WMG100 from the Universal Kitchens NDS and it comes up with Leather. How do we sort this out. It is like this for all catalogues we use.
Answer/Fix:
Our Data department have had to make a change to the fusionbase which is the shader categories which are found in the colour table and help the user in fusion to find new colours. This change will not affect any of your catalogue data as the colour ID and name has not changed. But this will affect how the user finds colours in fusion for example if they search for granite colour water will come up.
To fix this problem all that needs to happen is for the analyst to delete the shader categories out of the manufacturer catalogue so that it looks to the base file. You need to open the catalogue in Ce.exe and open the colour table section, then Open the Colour Shaders section, press ctrl+A and in the edit menu please select clear.
Sorry about this, the change was needed for black box (a future catalogue creation tool that is being written).

Technical Information for Fusion
Please find the answers to your questions below: -
Q: How much does the GPU weight on the actual performance of the rendering?
A: The CPU is extremely important, the is used heavily when rendering, the only renders that are graphics card dependent are the realtime and openGl renders.
Q: Does Planit take advantage of 64bits ?
A: Fusion works under 64 bit operating systems however Fusion is a 32 bit application.
Q: Does Planit take a proportional advantage of more cores or is the speed of the first two the most important, like most software…?
A: Fusion will use as many cores as the PC has during renders only, but these are only used on renders that have ray tracing turned on.
Q: Does RAM play a big part after having 1Gb?
A: Ram is extremely important as this is used during the render along with the application, we suggest a minimum of 2gb as most of 1gb would already be used by the operating system.
Q: Does Windows7 make any difference if it is a dual core with 2Gb of Ram and a Nvidia 9600 ?
A: Windows 7 can be good as it uses about 30% less memory than Vista, therefore you will have more memory available for fusion to use.
Q: Are the new versions optimized to take advantage of Directx or OpenGL and so the rendering is much faster? I could not find any article on the internet concerning performance, do other clients complaint?
A: Fusion uses OpenGl from the graphics card on specific renders, direct can be used if OpenGl is not available, you can see the speed of the render when using realtime renders and the navigation buttons in the perspective view.
I hope the above helps.

Tiling
Tiling Additions
There is a requirement for manufacturers and retailers to offer feature tiles in designs to their customers. Feature tiles are tiles which have been specifically placed in a design to enhance the standard look of a plain tiled surface. They can be as simple as a different colour tile, or a patterned tile, to a combination of several tiles which, when put together, could make up a complex tile design.
This new feature gives the user the ability to add feature tiles to a design through a new ‘add palette’ accessible through the advanced tiling option.

Elevation view Dimensions
Posted by Martin in Fusion Version 16 on December 15, 2009
This feature now allows a user to set a preference to Fusion whereby units that are not directly associated with the selected wall will not be dimensioned.
Centring on Annotations
Posted by Martin in Fusion Version 16 on December 15, 2009
Previously when annotating a design in Fusion, the annotations in plan and elevation views were not placed in the centre of the units. This made viewing annotated designs very difficult and it could be unclear which unit the annotations apply to, especially if annotations overlap onto other units. By centring an annotation on a unit which it is assigned to, it will prevent unclear annotated designs being produced.
Live Update of Unit Coordinates
Posted by Martin in Fusion Version 16 on December 15, 2009
The Feature enables to user to view the Distance Left, Distance right and Height off Floor as the unit is added to the design. It also allows the user to view updated coordinate values within the mover palette whilst moving a unit already added to the design.
Printing Re-Render Update
Posted by Martin in Fusion Version 16 on December 15, 2009
Previously in fusion, when the user printed a view in a Scan line render (e.g. Futurevision) the screen Re-rendered after the print was complete
This has been changed so the on-screen display will not re-render after printing.
